Planting Progress Update – 6/20/16

According to USDA, corn conditions remain slightly favorable to previous year levels while soybean planting progress, emergence and conditions also remain favorable on a YOY basis. Corn: With corn emergence 96% complete through the week ending Jun 12th, attention turns to condition figures. Three quarters of the corn crop was deemed good or excellent during the week ending Jun 19th, with 21% of the corn crop identified as fair. These figures were unchanged from the previous week and slightly favorable when compared to previous year figures. US Corn Condition - Week Ending Jun 19 Soybeans: Soybean plantings as of the week ending Jun 19th were 96% complete, ahead of last year’s pace of 89% and the five year average pace of 93%. US Soybean Planting Progress 6-20-16 Of the major soybean planting states, plantings trended above the previous year most significantly in Missouri and Kansas while no YOY declines were experienced. Jun 19 Soybean Planting Progress percentage from last year 6-20-16 Soybean plantings were most significantly higher when compared to five year average figures within Missouri and Arkansas while no YOY declines were experienced. Jun 19 Soybean Planting Progress percentage vs 5yr 6-20-16 Soybean emergence for the week ending Jun 19th was reported at 89% compared to an 81% emergence rate experienced last year and a five year average emergence rate of 84%. 73% of the soybean crop was deemed good or excellent during the week ending Jun 19th, with 22% of the soybean crop identified as fair. These figures were favorable when compared to the previous year, when only 65% of the soybean crop was identified as good or excellent. US Soybean Condition - Week Ending Jun 19
