Crop Progress Update – 6/21/21

According to the USDA, the percent of corn and soybeans identified to be in good or excellent condition continued to decline from the previous week, finishing below previous year levels.

Corn:

65% of the current corn crop was identified to be in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jun 20th, down three percent from the previous week. Six percent of the current corn crop was identified to be in very poor or poor condition, up one percent from the previous week.

Soybeans:

Soybean plantings as of the week ending Jun 20th were 97% complete, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 96% completed and the five year average pace of 94% completed.

Soybean emergence as of the week ending Jun 20th was 91% complete, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 88% completed and the five year average pace of 85% completed.

An additional five percent of the total U.S. soybean crop emerged during the week ending Jun 20th. Weekly increases in soybean emergence on a percentage basis were led by New Jersey, followed by Oklahoma and Missouri.

Soybean blooming as of the week ending Jun 20th was five percent complete, finishing equal to both last year’s pace and the five year average pace.

60% of the current soybean crop was identified to be in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Jun 20th, down two percent from the previous week. Nine percent of the current soybean crop was identified to be in very poor or poor condition, up one percent from the previous week.
