July Milk Production Increases 1.2%

                        According to USDA, July 2013 U.S. milk production totaled 16.8 billion pounds which was a 1.2% increase from July 2012 U.S. milk production of 16.6 billion pounds. ’12-’13 YTD U.S. milk production has run slightly ahead of the previous year, with YOY monthly changes ranging from -0.3% to 1.6%. Overall, ’12-’13 U.S. milk production has increased 0.6% YOY. Due to sequestration requirements, reporting of essential U.S. dairy fundamental data including dairy cow inventory figures and milk production per cow figures has been suspended for the foreseeable future. Dairy fundamental data that will be available going forward includes U.S. dairy cow slaughter, U.S. milk production, and U.S. cheese, butter, whey, and NFDM production figures.
