Planting Progress Update – 10/11/16

According to USDA, corn and soybean conditions remained favorable to previous year levels through the week ending Oct 9th. Corn: 73% of the corn crop remained in good or excellent condition during the week ending Oct 9th, with 19% of the corn crop identified as fair. These figures were unchanged from the previous week and remain favorable when compared to the previous year, when only 68% of the corn crop was identified as good or excellent. US Corn Condition - Week Ending Oct 9 93% of corn has matured through the week ending Oct 9th, up from 92% experienced during the previous year and a five year average figure of 88%. US Corn Maturing Progress 10-11-16 Corn harvested stood at 35% during the week ending Oct 9th, below the previous year’s harvest pace of 38% and the five year average pace of 38%. Percent of Corn Harvested as of 10-9-16 An additional 11% of the total U.S. corn crop was harvested during the week ending Oct 9th. Weekly increases in the corn crop harvest on a percentage basis were led by West Virginia, followed by Illinois and Kansas. Weekly Change Increase in Percent of Corn Harvested as of 10-9-16 Soybeans: 74% of the soybean crop was deemed good or excellent during the week ending Oct 9th, with 19% of the soybean crop identified as fair. These figures were unchanged from the previous week and remain favorable when compared to the previous year, when only 64% of the soybean crop was identified as good or excellent. US Soybean Condition - Week Ending Oct 9 91% of soybeans have dropped leaves during the week ending Oct 9th, up from 90% experienced during the previous year and the five year average figure of 88%. 44% of soybeans have been harvested through the week ending Oct 9th, down from 56% experienced during the previous year and a five year average figure of 47%. Percent of Soybeans Harvested as of 10-9-16 An additional 18% of the total U.S. soybean crop was harvested during the week ending Oct 9th. Weekly increases in the soybean crop harvest on a percentage basis were led by North Dakota, followed by Minnesota and Illinois. Weekly Change Increase in Percent of Soybeans Harvested as of 10-9-16
