Crop Progress Update – 9/27/21

According to the USDA, the percentage of corn and soybeans identified to be in good or excellent condition as of Sep 26th each remained unchanged from the previous week, finishing equal to analyst expectations. Corn harvest progress finished slightly below analyst expectations throughout the week while soybean harvest progress finished slightly ahead of analyst expectations.

Corn:

Corn dent as of the week ending Sep 26th was 97% complete, finishing slightly behind last year’s pace of 98% completed but remaining ahead of the five year average pace of 94% completed.

Corn maturation as of the week ending Sep 26th was 74% complete, finishing slightly ahead of last year’s pace of 73% completed while remaining ahead of the five year average pace of 64% completed.

Corn harvest progress as of the week ending Sep 26th was 18% complete, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 14% completed and the five year average pace of 15% completed. Corn harvest progress finished slightly below analyst expectations of 19% completed, however.

An additional eight percent of the total U.S. corn crop was harvested during the week ending Sep 26th. Weekly increases in corn harvest on a percentage basis were led by Oklahoma, followed by Missouri and Kansas.

59% of the current corn crop was identified to be in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Sep 26th, unchanged from the previous week. The current corn crop identified to be in good or excellent condition finished consistent with analyst expectations. 15% of the current corn crop was identified to be in very poor or poor condition, also unchanged from the previous week.

Soybeans:

75% of the soybean crop has dropped leaves as of the week ending Sep 26th, finishing ahead of last year’s pace of 72% completed and the five year average pace of 66% completed.

Soybean harvest progress as of the week ending Sep 26th was 16% complete, finishing slightly behind last year’s pace of 18% completed but remaining ahead of the five year average pace of 13% completed. Soybean harvest progress finished slightly ahead of analyst expectations of 15% completed.

An additional ten percent of the total U.S. soybean crop was harvested during the week ending Sep 26th. Weekly increases in soybean harvest on a percentage basis were led by Minnesota, followed by North Dakota.

58% of the current soybean crop was identified to be in good or excellent condition as of the week ending Sep 26th, unchanged from the previous week. The current soybean crop identified to be in good or excellent condition finished consistent with analyst expectations. 14% of the current soybean crop was identified to be in very poor or poor condition, also unchanged from the previous week.
